Only One Midwestern State Wins Federal Education Funding
This week, the U.S. Department of Education announced the recipients of the 'Race to the Top' grants. A total of eleven states and the District of Columbia won grants to support education reform in the state. Only one Midwestern state - Ohio - won a grant, although
nearly half of its school districts chose not to participate in the program, largely due to disputes with union leaders, and will not receive funding. The $400 million in federal funding will be available over the next four years. Read More.
