New Heartland Paper Released on Biomass Energy

The Global Midwest Initiative has released its fourth Heartland Paper titled "Harnessing the Power of Biomass Residuals: Opportunities and Challenges for Midwestern Renewable Energy."

Steve Brick, senior fellow for energy and climate at The Chicago
Council and author of the report, concludes that agricultural and forestry biomass residuals in the region could offer new opportunities for economic development, energy production, and environmental conservation. The report examines these opportunities and the key challenges limiting the current capacity of alternative biomass energy technologies.

Release events have been held in Chicago and Washington, D.C. and additional seminars have been held in Madison, Wisconsin, Cleveland, Ohio, and at Purdue University in West LaFayette, Indiana, to considerable interest.
